The Short-sighted Vision of Woke-ism and Why We Must Stay Awake for Heaven’s Sake
/I know I write about this ALOT, and I apolog... Actually, no, I’m not sorry for sharing what I do, because, in my humble opinion, anything less would be the most unloving, hateful thing I could do. To withhold the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ from a world in desperate need of Him would speak louder than these words I’m about to share. It would say, “I don’t care.” And I do...so very very much!
So, in light of that eternal perspective, I offer this plea...
It’s time to wake up. And if you are awake, it’s time to stay awake and shake others awake. Woke-ism is on the move and it’s coming for me and you. It’s a game the enemy is playing, with rules governed by the lies he is saying, and fueled by the evil he is displaying...
And many are buying into the lies, playing the game, going along to get along, letting evil have its reign.
I came across this video series by Pastor Neil Stewart of Christ Covenant Church in Greensboro, NC, and quite honestly, he says all the things my eyes have been seeing, my spirit has been sensing, and my mind has been discerning (and he says them much more eloquently and concisely than I ever could)!
The series is entitled “Living Against the Darkness,” and this video (Be Woke) is all about the anti-Gospel methods used in counterproductive agenda of woke-ism.
Pastor Stewart says, “Being woke today represents the brokenness of a culture trying to undo and remake itself. It is an earthly call to an earthly salvation.”
It seeks to achieve something unattainable apart from Christ, which is why it implores tactics that work against themselves, revealing further the sinister mind behind the movement.
Pastor Stewart goes on to say, “In the name of inclusion, we exclude. In the name of tolerance, we cancel. In the name of peace, we incite violence. In the name of anti-racism we erect a new apartheid.”
We call women men and men women. We confuse God’s laws and abuse His grace. And to add insult to injury, we do it all in the name of love.
On church and culture, Pastor Stewart had this to say...
“In a culture that has lost a vision of God..., it should not be surprising that it is losing its ability to define human identity, dignity, and responsibility. When you detach liberty, egality, and fraternity from truth, what you’re always left with is brutality and more oppression.
When the church allows the world to dictate its mission, it won’t be long until the world also changes the church’s message. The churches mission is not to change the culture, it is to change sinners by the power of the gospel. When the church stays on mission, she has the power to change a culture one repentant center at a time.”
I think the entire video can be summed up by this quote, “The social gospel is bereft of any eternal value.”
When I read the Word of God, the thing that rises above all else to truly stand out (and is actually woven so beautifully and intricately in every story throughout) — God and His great love for us, Jesus and His great sacrifice for us, and they Holy Spirit and His great power to use that sacrifice, fueled by that love, to redeem us. The Gospel of Jesus Christ sets us free from the bondage of sin. It gives us the ability to say to the enemy, “I am a child of God, and you have no authority to change anything about His sovereignty.”
So while woke-ism may be a game the enemy wants us to play, his endgame is to get us to fall asleep then fall away. We must stay awake, quite literally, for Heaven’s sake.
“Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” ~ Ephesians 5:6-17
