Content Creator < being content with your Creator
/Being a content creator is less important than being content with your Creator.
I’m not saying creating content or being a social media influencer is wrong, evil, or even unnecessary, but I am saying that there are many online creators and influencers that are more concerned with their following than with their followers. They play the game, put numbers before names, and seek internet fame.
I believe our deepest need is to belong to something, to someone — to have purpose beyond ourselves — to do life with others and for others — to make our lives matter more than merely living out and counting our days, but living them out well and making them count.
Which I know is the impetus behind creating content. I know this very post is proof of that!
So, how do we balance it all? If we are human, imperfect, and flawed (which we all are), how do we point people to the very One whose life and death gives our life meaning and purpose in this life and beyond our last earthly breath.
Because there is no content that’s has ever been created (apart from God’s amazing creation), no book that’s ever been written (apart from God’s Holy Word), no song that’s ever been sung, sermon preached, or viral speech (apart from the Good News of the Gospel) that will offer true and complete contentment every soul longs to experience.
So, go ahead, create the content. But do it because you’re content in your Creator, confident in your calling, convinced of His care, concern, and compassion for humankind, His most valuable creation. His great love for us is more than enough. We don’t need all the extra stuff.
If creating content is creating clutter, chaos, and confusion in your life, just cut it out and carve out time for Him.
Open His Word. Close the apps.
Open your heart. Close your eyes.
Rest in Him and leave the rest up to Him.
Seek His face until He changes your pace.
Less is more when it’s all for the Lord.
Being a content creator is less important than being content with your Creator.
